Information about wills and trusts in Thailand

If you don't have a will or a trust, state law determines who will inherit your estate. Everyone should have a will. It is advisable to ensure that you have a Will drawn up in each judicial juristiction that you own property, to minimise any propblems for your family or other beneficiaries that survives you.

PBRL Legal Services have lengthy experience in ensuring that your Will accurately reflects your wishes here in Thailand and are able to arrange for this same service in any other country on your behalf.

A trust is a more flexible instrument than a Will, one of its many uses is for disposing of assetts on death. For higher net worth clients with slightly more complicated wishes on their death a Trust can be used to avoid probate. PBRL Legal Services are able to use Offshore Trusts and other Offshore arrangements to minimise any Tax Liabilities for our clients, both whilst living and after death.

Last Wills and Trusts should be reviewed yearly to reflect any changes in circumstances, new executors and amendments to beneficiaries. They should also take into account any increase in overall wealth and consequent inheritance tax levels and how to mitigate against liability. At PBRL we work to ensure that efficient and beneficial Estate Planning is one of the key cornerstones that we set in place to protect our client's best interests. We believe in the Holistic approach, ensuring that the client's whole financial and administrative picture is in good shape.
